    hi granspasc, thanks for the comment. In fact the kite is completely
    de-powered (5th line) so it is safe to leave the leash connected to the
    kite. If you disconnect your leash you may become separated from your kite.
    In addition her fingers are never “stuck in the bar” plus the kite is
    de-powered so there is no danger. Thanks.

    In real life you should test your safety system before you need it. This
    can be done safely when the wind is light (ideally with shallow water). If
    in real life you find yourself learning to self-rescue in 40 knots, then I
    would have to say you might not survive without a plan. That my friend is
    the point of the self-rescue video.
